A new study suggests that ancient meteorites which crashed on the Earth’s surface contained several sugars that are essential to life including ribose. Study author Yoshihiro Furukawa informed that this is the first time that these bio essential have been discovered in meteorites. Furukawa and his colleagues in this new study have analyzed powder collected from two ancient meteorites Murchison and NWA 801. Murchison fell near Murchison Australia in 1969 whereas NWA 801 had been discovered in Morocco in 2001. Both space rocks are believed to be more than 4.5 billion years older than earth and according to previous study contain organic matter as well as amino acid. According to Furukawa this recent study supports the idea that essential building blocks on earth were forged in space before crash landing on planet earth.
