Is this another “Me Too” or “Mancrimination”?

Prestigious vocalist Shafi, in a web-based social networking post, blamed Ali Zafar for lewd behavior.

"I will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society. It is not easy to speak out.. but it is harder to stay silent. My conscience will not allow it anymore #MeToo," she wrote in a Twitter post.

She said that the artist irritated her on different events. Ali Zafar has precluded every one of the charges from securing inappropriate behavior leveled against him by kindred Pakistani vocalist Meesha Shafi.

"I intend to take this through the courts of law and to address this professionally and seriously rather than to lodge any allegations here, contesting personal vendettas on social media and in turn disrespecting the movement, my family, the industry and my fans", says Ali Zafar.

All these allegations got me thinking about why now? If what Ms Shafi is saying is true then why not speak up right at the time it happened? Why now? She is just as renowned a celebrity as Zafar is then why was there hesitation of speaking up for herself?

While a few famous people have upheld Meesha Shafi for being sufficiently bold to share her provocation encounter, others have sponsored Ali Zafar. Model, socialite and CEO of Catwalk Event Management and Productions, Frieha Altaf addressed SAMAA TV and said that numerous individuals didn't know with reference to what precisely goes under the extent of lewd behavior.

"Numerous individuals don't realize what constitutes lewd behavior in lawful terms," she said. "We have to look into the meaning of lewd behavior and which acts are incorporated into it."

But then again on the other hand, there is not Ms Shafi who blamed Zafar but quite a number of other women as well.

Make-up specialist Leena Ghani expressed gratitude toward Ms Shafi for her valiance for talking up and shared her #MeToo story saying, “In the many years I have known Ali, he has on several occasions crossed boundaries of what is appropriate behaviour between friends… inappropriate contact, groping, sexual comments should not fall in the grey area between humor and indecency. Comments that would make your skin crawl and make you feel objectified are not to be reduced to 'a joke' such behaviour can leave women feeling embarrassed, small and reduced to the level of entertainment at the hands of a woman.”

All the while Ali Zafar has kept his cool. He sent a legal notice to Meesha Shafi to which her team confirms is true but other than Zafar seems to be oblivious to all the chaos with his name being highlighted everywhere. It is either because he is not guilty of anything or that he is a pro at these women’s accusations. Which one will it be?

Osman Khalid Butt was the first celebrity to speak up about the issue, “A woman breaks her silence about abuse, withstands character assassination & further abuse on social media, her story turns into memes & tone-deaf jokes that trivialize the issue, she fears ostracization - but suuuuure, she did it for the cheap publicity.”

Maya Ali remained by her co-star Ali Zafar and discharged an announcement on Instagram saying that she never got that sort of "vibe" from him amid their film's shoot.

Moreover, Waqar Zaka, “Jab tak larki ko acha lagta hai , "its healthy flirt", jab larki ka mood na ho tu "sexual harassment". Larki num mangay tu "its just for fun" , Larka num mangay tu "its Tharkipan". If it's not a publicity stunt tu phelay Court mei file karti Madam, Social media kyun? #Meesha”
