The former striker has ended his career at the age of 38 after 21 years of football. The English striker has played for many football teams including Liverpool, Portsmouth, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur to name a few. In his career he achieved many things such as his assist to Steven Gerrard’s goal that won Liverpool FC the 2006 FA Cup Final. He also holds the record for the most goals via header in the Premier League (53). “If you told me at 17 I’d play in World Cups, get to a Champions League final, win the FA Cup and get 100 Premier League goals, I would have avoided you at all costs,” Crouch wrote on Twitter. Crouch admitted that the prospect of retirement was “scary” to him, but after “a lot of deliberation” the decision seemed easy for the 6ft 7 striker. When asked to comment on his retirement, the former footballer had this to say “Collecting shirts was never something that interested me but I collected memories and have stories that I will be able to tell my children’s children. This former footballer had the time of his life. It’s time to write the next chapters.” In the beginning of his career playing for Liverpool, Crouch had a goal drought of sorts for a month before he finally scored his first goal for the team – a fact he writes about openly in his book ‘How to Be a Footballer’. The decision came from the thought of going from being “ a regular starter to someone whose role is limited to 10 or 15 minutes off the bench”.
Simon Cowell secretly working out?
X Factor boss Simon Cowell is keeping his ripped body under raps after starting a new vegan diet. The star has reportedly lost one and a half stone and is keeping weights and push-up bars backstage so he can keep to his new workout schedule at work. The secret workouts were revealed by his co-star Amanda Holden who said on RunPod podcast that “he’s not a runner. He’s definitely not a runner. He hasn’t had to run for a bus for a long time, has he?! He has weights…He has these things, I don’t know what you call them. They’re sort of stuck to the floor and they have handles so he can do his own press ups on them… And it works! His upper body is amazing.” Simon’s decision to lose weight came in 2017 when he was hospitalised for fainting due to low blood pressure. In an interview with Extra, Simon said “I went to see this guy who’s very well-known. And he said to me, after doing some blood work, ‘You can’t have red meat, dairy, sugar, bread or gluten.” However, Simon has decided to continue smoking despite all of the other healthy changes to his life.
