While everyone is excited for the upcoming Tekken 7, an official report from Digital Foundry via Gear Nuke has shown that the PS4 version Tekken 7 will be running on 900p resolution. Back in July Katsuhiro Harada, the producer of Tekken 7 had confirmed that the game would run at 1080p and 60 frames-per-second. However when Digital Foundry got a chance to play the master build, they noticed the game was running at a resolution of 900p. The performance was a consistent 60fps throughout their testing but edges looked blurry and faded into the background. One digital foundry member noted that the game was only a master copy, and as such there is a chance that some last-minute tweaks could be applied to the code to improve the resolution.
The lower resolution will bring less eye candy but has the advantage of a smoother framerate. Unfortunately there’s no word on how the game performs on the PS4 pro, although it is worth mentioning that Harada-san said in an interview, “For the PS4 Pro, the only thing we can say is there is a noticeable difference in the graphical quality, so for those people who have a PS4 Pro, we hope that you’ll play the game on that platform.”
Tekken 7 releases on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on June 2 2017.
